Yep...I kinda forgot about this one...

Yep…I kinda forgot about this one…

Review: Sooo…If you remember when I bought all of those little bottles of Sutter Home wines…I was under the impression that I had already tried all of the ones I had bought. Well this one was tucked behind a jumbo container of Yogurt that I just found today! YAY! But, to put it simply…this wine is bitter…like hardcore. I can still drink it though, which is a plus because there is no greater travesty than buying a new wine that you don’t want to drink. I would definitely not recommend this to new wine tasters because the bitterness is overpowering. If you want to get a nice buzz though, this wine delivers quickly in that regard. All in all, just be careful with this one. It really has a taste that you have to get accustomed to in order to like it…

Cheap-o Wine: Mad Dog 20/20 – Orange Jubilee

Mad Dog 20/20

Yes, this is wine. Surprising…no?

Review: I actually drank this wine a week ago…with two other wines…and it was not a good idea. I was sicker than a dog the next day, which makes the name more…meaningful. (Yeah, lets go with that). Needless to say, for the amount of alcohol you get for the $4 you spend, this wine can hit you pretty hard depending on how much you can swallow. The first drink begins with a great reminiscence of Sunny Delight with a light kick. Then the alcohol comes to the surface on the second drink and any thereafter. I can say that it literally tasted more like a badly mixed screwdriver than actual wine by the time I was wasted. BUT, the point is to get drunk RIGHT? So as a whole, it’s O.K. for anyone tight on cash and you can’t spend the actual money on a decent bottle of wine. But if you have run out of wines to try, this is a definite new experience.

Sutter Home - White Zinfadel

It took a bit, but this wine is drinkable…barely.

Review: Friday night was when it all started, I figured I would try my wine like I normally would and everything would be hunky dory. I was definitely wrong. This wine was first on the agenda and to my dismay I found out rather quickly that it was really bitter and dry. It is drinkable mind you, but just barely…I do have to say that if you want to get drunk though, this wine is the one for you! Only two of these baby bottles literally put me under the table which really surprised me. I would recommend this wine to people who have already had a plethora of wines under their belt because this one is not for the feint of heart. Overall, it didn’t taste so bad that I couldn’t drink it but it was really close.

A Dastardly Night of Threes: FlipFlop-Cabernet Sauvignon

Flip Flop Cabernet Sauvignon

Literally right in the middle…

Review: I heard from a friend that FlipFlop is a great brand of wine to try, so I took the plunge and I got this one and two others. (Those reviews will come later this week!) But I have to admit that this Cabernet Sauvignon was much better than the one from Sutter Home for sure. I actually finished off my night by drinking half of this bad boy and I was quite pleased. I will admit that it is slightly earthy and robust but the flavor was tolerable and I was able to drink it without difficulty. If you have run out of different wines to try, this one could be a next possible choice. But just be forewarned, it is a little hard to handle at first but in the end you can drink it and that is all that matters.

Sutter Home Sauvignon Blanc California – Oh so bitter…

Very bitter but hits the spot!

Very bitter but hits the spot!

Review: After having the Sutter Home – Merlot, I needed something that would possibly taste better, so I gave the Sauvignon Blanc California a try. I was kind of disappointed because it was just so bitter. It is pretty darn easy to drink with Chinese food I found out, and the taste isn’t too horribly bad, it’s just very strong. I gave it a decent try but it really is hard to drink if you just want to enjoy a nice wine. If you want to get a nice buzz with an O.K. tasting wine this is the one for you.

Sutter Home:Merlot – Why Can’t I Find A Good Red Wine?!

EH, could have been better. =/

EH, could have been better. =/

Review: Why Red Wine? WHY?! Overall this wine was rough to swallow, literally. It has a very strong flavor of…well…it’s hard to describe. On OneStopWineShop.com it is described with a dark cherry taste but I just can’t taste it!  I admit that the wine itself does go down smooth, but the taste is a little overwhelming for a wine beginner like myself. Even though I didn’t like it, there’s a chance you might. I bet that it would go good with some Italian or Chinese food but by itself, I can’t really appreciate the flavor it’s trying to accomplish. If it had a more distinct or sweet flavor, it probably would have gotten a higher rating. But for now, 1/5 it is!

I gotta say that at first I totally thought this was a Reisling or a Moscato...way wrong

I gotta say that at first I totally thought this was a Reisling or a Moscato…way wrong…

Review: So, not much to say about this wine, other than I am losing faith in the Cupcake Vineyards brand. =/ This is the first chardonnay I have ever tried, and I have to say that it’s pretty much…meh. I mean, this wine is like a sweet strong punch to the face. The taste is slightly sweet but definitely bitter, and doesn’t resemble Angel Food cake in the slightest. At least with the Red Velvet wine I had tried its damndest to be a pastry. But I digress, the wine tasted a lot better after I added some Triple Sec that I had handy and boom! It tasted just like sweet water! What could go wrong?! I mean, I even had this wine with Pizza! The delicious pizza had no effect on the taste, and I doubt I will buy this wine again in the future. This is probably an acquired taste, but even a moderate wine drinker would probably be able to handle this wine. They wouldn’t like it, but they wouldn’t pour it out either.
