Mad Dog 20/20-Red Grape Wine

Actually didn’t taste half bad.

Review: Huzzah!!! Another good tasting red wine!!! (I haven’t had much luck in the past with these darker red wines). But, as a whole this wine is sweet, cheap, and hits the spot with some good food. I got perpetually smashed by drinking the MD 20/20-Orange Jubilee wine and this one, which at the time was a good thing until I got sick the next day which was no fun. BUT alas, I will not bash the wine for getting me sick. It has a definitive taste that reminds me of spiked punch. I would probably recommend this wine to newbies and avid wine drinkers because it’s pretty tasty. The only drawback is the aftertaste that rides for a while on the tongue after consumption. It is like the alcohol kinda sticks to the taste buds and won’t let go. So just be weary.

FlipFlop Pinot Noir

Save yourself the trouble, not worth it. =(

Review: I saw the “Best Buy” sticker and I had such high hopes! The sticker lies thick deep lies. I swear, I am having some really bad trust issues with these red wines. Almost each and every one I have tasted resembles dirt in one fashion or another.  The taste of this wine was atrocious, it is really hard to describe. I do know that when I get around to it, I am either going to have to pour it out or quickly find a way to cook with wine in order to get my money’s worth. I do not recommend this wine to anyone, unless they are my dearest enemy.

A Dastardly Night of Threes: FlipFlop-Cabernet Sauvignon

Flip Flop Cabernet Sauvignon

Literally right in the middle…

Review: I heard from a friend that FlipFlop is a great brand of wine to try, so I took the plunge and I got this one and two others. (Those reviews will come later this week!) But I have to admit that this Cabernet Sauvignon was much better than the one from Sutter Home for sure. I actually finished off my night by drinking half of this bad boy and I was quite pleased. I will admit that it is slightly earthy and robust but the flavor was tolerable and I was able to drink it without difficulty. If you have run out of different wines to try, this one could be a next possible choice. But just be forewarned, it is a little hard to handle at first but in the end you can drink it and that is all that matters.

It's not super special awesome, but oh so close!

It’s super special awesome!

Review: This is my first Red Wine that I have thoroughly enjoyed. We actually tried this wine while eating some cheese burgers and by-golly it matched really well. This wine had a slight earthy flavor but was all around sweet! Not moscato sweet, but pretty darn close. I drank this wine by it-self later on and the flavor was still just as good as the first time. The aftertaste wasn’t very noticeable which I was excited about. I would highly recommend this wine to beginners because for a Red Wine, it has a good flavor so it won’t turn you away from the Red type in general. I can’t exclaim how happy I was to find a good tasting Red Wine!

Sutter Home:Merlot – Why Can’t I Find A Good Red Wine?!

Review: Why Red Wine? WHY?! Overall this wine was rough to swallow, literally. It has a very strong flavor of…well…it’s hard to describe. On OneStopWineShop.com it is described with a dark cherry taste but I just can’t taste it!  I admit that the wine itself does go down smooth, but the taste is a little overwhelming for a wine beginner like myself. Even though I didn’t like it, there’s a chance you might. I bet that it would go good with some Italian or Chinese food but by itself, I can’t really appreciate the flavor it’s trying to accomplish. If it had a more distinct or sweet flavor, it probably would have gotten a higher rating. But for now, 1/5 it is!

I will NEVER purchase this wine EVER again!

I had such high hopes...then it went all downhill after it was uncorked...

I had such high hopes…then it went all downhill after it was uncorked…

Review: Just as a forewarning, you have to have one heck of an acquired taste to actually enjoy this wine! (I get pretty harsh with this one…) Yeah, I am definitely still learning the intricacies in the world of wine, and I have my first wine to add to my DO NOT PURCHASE LIST! =( I knew that Red Wines are a lot different from White Wines, and you pretty much have to pay some hefty cash to find a sweet Red Wine that tastes good, but I never knew that a wine could taste this bad. This wine in-particular has 3 stages: Taste, After Taste, and an After After Taste. The initial taste starts off O.K., with a slight sweetness and then it wreaks havoc on your taste buds in the worst way imaginable. The aftertaste, if you can imagine I guess would taste like mud, and that’s after it’s already gone down your throat. Then in the final stage, all of a sudden there is a miniscule burst of flavor that tastes like Red Velvet that lasts maybe a millisecond and disappears forever! All of my hopes and dreams were crushed with this one wine.

Now that I think about it though, this might be a good wine to cook with, but I have no idea…seeing as how I poured the rest of it out, I doubt I will ever know. x.x
